11 Seniors Sign to Play NCAA Sports
Charlotte Catholic students are known for their academic and athletic capabilities. This year, eleven student athletes signed a letter of intent to play sports at the collegiate level.
Students from all grades gathered in the Fine Arts Center to congratulate their fellow students. The signees sat in anticipation alongside their families, proudly sporting their respective college on their shirts and hats. Each signing table was adorned with colorful decorations and the college logo.
The event began with a speech delivered by Coach Christmas, in which he stated that “we are so proud of everything you guys have given to Charlotte Catholic.” Coach Christmas recognized that “signing as a family is all what our community is about” as he thanked the signees for “carrying our legacy.” As parents, friends, and signees began to tear up watching their hard work pay off, Coach Christmas jokingly asked “Are you ready to sign your life away?”
As the athletes signed, the Fine Arts Center burst into loud applause. Pictures were taken, hugs were given, hands were shaken, and congratulations were said. All friends and family hoped to make each signee feel as special as possible knowing the work put into their accomplishments.
Senior Maddy Baumgratz, who signed to play lacrosse at Virginia Tech, remarked how special the event made her feel. As all her friends gathered around her and her family to take pictures and congratulate her, she admitted “it just feels surreal. I’m really grateful I've gotten this opportunity and I have such a good support system.”
Fall Signing Day was a success at Charlotte Catholic. Charlotte Catholic - its administration, its students, and the communist wish nothing but the best for these successful seniors in the next chapter of their life.
