SOTM: Actress Anna Awes Audiences
Junior Anna Wall has been acting since middle school. Anna was originally interested in singing but decided to give theater a try because she thought “it would be fun.” She has excelled at acting and has learned to shine on the stage.
Most recently, Anna performed at The North Carolina Theater Conference (NCTC) which hosts various high school play festivals across the state, including one held at Catholic this year. The Cougars performed a comedy-drama, Our Place, showcasing stories of couples, friends, and families at a lakeside dock. Anna, who played Sydney, elevated her performance and won the Excellence in Acting award presented by NCTC.
Anna sets herself apart with her attention to detail. She delivers stellar performances and attributes it to her ability to “get all of [her] lines down” as soon as she can. Anna’s polished acting results from “working on tiny little details.” She describes the countless hours spent on Our Place, working with a partner or by herself, perfecting scenes and minuscule details.
Anna admits that preparing for a show “is a long process.” Although it depends on the show, for her award winning performance in Our Place, she rehearsed multiple times a day. Whether it be in her acting class, at break, or after school, she recalls the time spent rehearsing. The rehearsals and long nights, she claims, “are so worth it though.”
Anna has been part of a multitude of shows. Her favorite thus far is The Sound of Music, Catholic’s Spring production in 2023. She reminisces on the big cast and how much fun they had rehearsing. She “loved hanging out with the cast.”
Fans who have enjoyed Anna’s performances are eager to see her success continue.
