The football team has a new look this season both on and off the field, with two major upgrades to the program at the start of the 2025 season. They recently unveiled their new black uniforms. Additionally, they just finished a renovation to the varsity locker room.

Two years ago, the Charlotte Catholic Athletic Department changed its supplier for athletic gear from Adidas to New Balance. During the Adidas era, the football program had four different colored jerseys: red, white, blue, and black. Last football season under New Balance, the team had two color jerseys: red and white. Students and players desired to bring back the black uniforms.

After much fundraising, the athletics department ordered the new black uniforms from New Balance. The team unveiled them in the fourth game of the 2025 season against Kings Mountain. The new uniforms received plenty of praise from the players and students. The players felt that the new fabric of the jerseys was more comfortable and of better quality than the previous one. Above all, everyone thought that the uniforms look excellent, and the players hope they will get to wear them more often.

Charlotte Catholic also renovated the varsity locker room. While the football team is the main occupant of this room, the rugby and lacrosse teams also use the locker room during their seasons, so the renovation is an upgrade for multiple sports. The new locker room includes brand-new wooden lockers with a cubby in the top left corner of each one and a bottom compartment for more storage. They also replaced the old tile floor with carpeting.

Junior Will Johnson thinks the locker room looks a lot nicer and newer. However, he said, “The new lockers are too small in comparison to the previous ones.”

The new locker room gives the athletes a more modernized space to store their belongings. However, it is not just a place for storage. It is a place where core memories are built and athletes will remember their great wins throughout a season.

With the football regular season now halfway done, these new uniforms and the renovated locker room will allow the team to step into a new era as they continue on their journey toward the state championship.
