A New Facility?

As Charlotte Catholic High School has just begun the Capital Campaign, donors invested just under $10 million dollars to renovate the field, create a student life center, build a field house, and purchase the nearby building to create the CTE Innovation Center. However, President Kurt Telford has been keeping a massive secret from the Charlotte Catholic community.

Even though the president and all the students of the community have been made well aware of the Capital Campaign intentions, I have found a deep hidden secret. One day I walked past the library, and I overheard a conversation between Mr. Telford and Mr. Hoilett about the campaign. In his exact words, Mr. Telford said, “How long before we can remove the tarp?”

Upon hearing this question, I became eager to find out where they were finding this tarp. I searched everywhere across the school, and eventually found the stairwell to the roof where I discovered the massive secret. On the roof of the main building sits a massive 24x48 yard dimension pool. I also discovered a deeply hidden hot tub on top of the Fine Arts building.

As it turns out, Mr. Telford and his buddies have secretly been coming in at night and hanging out together in the hot tub on top of the Fine Arts building. However it is unclear to me what the purpose of the large swimming pool is. They haven’t been marked yet, so if it is for the school, the project is still under renovation.

Junior Sebastian Illueca said, “A swimming pool for the swim team would be magnificent. It’s such a drag to have to drive a long way to practice all the time.” He also thinks that “Whatever Mr. Telford is planning, me and the boys are free Saturday night.” When revealing my findings to Mr. Telford, he admitted the truth and he said, “We were just having some fun before we revealed the surprise, we’ll announce the new pool and renovation plans in the next few weeks.”

While I sincerely hope that I never again see Mr. Telford and his buddies in their hot tub again, this new swimming pool will do great things for the Charlotte Catholic swimmers who definitely deserve a pool after their 1st and 2nd place finishes at State Championships.
