Cougars Go Clubbing 2024

Club Day, a cherished annual tradition at Charlotte Catholic, allows to sign up for clubs that align with their interests. This year, students chose from 95 clubs, the most in CCHS history.

Campus Ministry issued new guidelines that clubs must follow this year. Clubs can no longer sponsor Dress Down Days. Instead, proceeds from monthly Dress Down Days will go to specific charities. Clubs can still participate in bake sales and donation drives; however, there is a limit of two bake sales and one donation drive a month.

To foster accountability and engagement, Campus Ministry requires clubs to meet at least once a month with a teacher advisor present. Additionally, each club must complete a service project over the course of the year. A donation drive for a club’s charity counts as a service project.

Following each club meeting, student advisors must submit a summary of the meeting to Canvas, including a picture of the attendance sheet signed by the teacher advisor and a written description of the meeting.

On Club Day, excited students flooded the halls to visit tables of different clubs. Some clubs include Pokemon Club, Letters to Little Buddies Club, Wakeboarding Club, Anthropology Club, and Pickleball Club.

Flour Power, a veteran club that holds bake sales, prevails as one of the school’s most popular clubs with over 80 members this year. Student advisor Soleil Demetry believes that Flour Power “allows students to have some fun baking and working the bake sales.” Flour Power will continue to sponsor bake sales for various charities and partner with other clubs.

Students also joined some of the newer clubs, such as the Rosary Club. The Rosary Club will provide opportunities for students to pray the rosary together. Freshman Julia Lengers, the club’s student advisor, believes that Rosary Club “helps students connect with others that want to practice their faith.”

With the increase in clubs and the introduction of new guidelines, CCHS students will have better club experiences this year and in the future.
