Charlotte Catholic High School celebrated Catholic Schools Week from Wednesday, January 28th to Friday, January 30th on campus after two snow days canceled the first part of the schedule. The shortened week still included service projects, themed dress down days, a raffle, and a pep rally.
Students returned on Wednesday and gathered for an all‑school Mass. Throughout the day, theology classes hosted vocational visitors who spoke about their careers and faith paths. Students also wrote letters to veterans as part of the school’s community‑focused activities. Coin Wars, a competition between grades to donate the most coins to Garinger High School, and a K–5 book drive also continued throughout the week as well.
Thursday, which was Bring Anything But a Backpack Day, opened with donuts at the front entrance. Students carried their school supplies in items such as trash bags, mailboxes, and household appliances. Senior Miller McMillan walked in with a microwave, while junior Brennan Hay hauled a full mailbox. Sophomore Max Whalen chose a briefcase. He said, “I thought it would be easy to carry all my stuff in.” The different “backpacks” provoked reactions all day as students walked through the halls.

Friday featured a color‑themed dress down day. Freshmen wore black, sophomores wore blue, juniors wore white, and seniors wore red. During the pep rally, each grade filled its own bleacher section, and the colors made it easy to spot where every grade level sat.
Students took part in a schoolwide raffle. Each student received a numbered ticket during homeroom, and the winning number went out over the announcements during G period. The winner then headed to the office to pick up their prize.
The pep rally drew lots of excitement from the crowd for the annual student versus teacher basketball game. Senior Randy Powell commentated and kept the gym laughing as the game went on. During half-time there was tic‑tac‑toe basketball challenge during half-time with one student from each grade level selected from the crowd. After a close game, the teachers won the game and earned a dress‑down day for when they returned to school.
Students and teachers made the most out of the shortened Catholic Schools Week. The administration made sure it was filled with activities and ways to represent Charlotte Catholic as a faith-filled community.
