With Halloween right around the corner, Charlotte Catholic students are getting ready to dress up and celebrate for the occasion. Every year, the senior class exclusively wears costumes during the school-day, bringing the holiday’s excitement to the classroom.
For school halloween costumes, most seniors dress in pairs or groups, all in colorful unison. This year, Kylie Martin, Coco Bork, Jill Boyle, Abigail Ayres and Annie Duncan are dressing as characters from the movie Trolls. Each one is wearing vibrant colors with sparkles and bright wigs that stick straight up. When asked where she got the idea from, Kylie said, "Coco and I came up with it because we knew we wanted to do something with variety so all of our friends could be included. There are so many different trolls in the movie, so it makes it easy for a group to be the same yet individual.”
Some seniors, like Lindy Dumas, are wearing individual costumes. Lindy is dressing up as Vector from Despicable Me. She bought his signature orange track suit, a bowl cut wig, and black glasses. A video on TikTok inspired her costume, and she is hoping to find a Gru to complete the look.

While wearing a costume to school is limited to seniors, students from all grade levels are excited to wear their costumes after. Sophomore Berkeley Wilfong is dressing as a deer with a group of her friends. She said, “I picked this costume because I wanted to find something all of my friends would be excited to wear. We all agreed deer would be easy and cute.” Her group is wearing a brown outfit, deer ears, and brown face paint with white dots to mimic the muzzle.
Instead of dressing with friends, some couples are dressing together. Seniors Coco Bork and Zach Deblitz are dressing as Daisy Buchanan and Jay Gatsby from The Great Gatsby. Coco said, “I was trying to think of something unique for us to dress as, and I remembered loving that book when I read it in English last year.” Coco’s costume includes a flapper dress and a rose headpiece. Zach is wearing a 1920’s inspired pinstripe suit. They cannot wait to wear the costume on Halloween and see if people can guess who they are dressed as.
Halloween approaches, and all grades alike are excited to wear their carefully picked costumes to celebrate the holiday and carry on Halloween spirit.
