Honors Acting Class Presents: Silent but Deadly
Charlotte Catholic’s Honors Acting Class will be performing Silent but Deadly, from April 18th to April 20th. The shows will be held in the Fine Arts Center and will start at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online through the school store. Students can claim one free ticket with their student ID number.
Honors Acting teacher Mr. Riter describes the show in three words: “humorous, mysterious and dynamic.” The production takes place on a 1920s film set and is a show within a show. Since it is about a silent film being filmed, at the end of the play the silent film will be shown on a screen. Senior Lydia Cole said, “the show is filled with interesting characters that no one should miss seeing.”
Because it is a silent film, each character needs to display exaggerated emotions and actions. Senior Halle Patrick is in charge of filming the real silent film before opening night. This is done in advance of show nights, so at the end of the production it is ready to watch. She said, “directing has been a good learning experience.” She goes on to talk about how “the actors have been working extra hard on how to express themselves without words.” Acting without speaking is a new experience for many in the cast.
Despite the macabre title and poster, Mr. Riter assures everyone this is a family friendly play with humorous characters. Come out and support the CCHS Honors Acting class’ production Silent but Deadly.
