Cougars Curate Christmas Lists

The rush of the holiday season is in full swing, which means gift-giving season is upon us. From the latest perfumes, to tickets to popular concerts—and even trips to foreign countries—Cougars are the ones to trust when it comes to this year’s ultimate Christmas wish list.

Several students participated in a Christmas list poll on Sunday, December 3rd, and the results did not disappoint.

Although a few students wished for big items—such as expensive electronics or trips abroad, the hottest items on most of these Cougars’ wish lists were shoes and clothes. Sophomore Meadow DiProspero hopes to see a brand new pair of Golden Goose shoes under her tree on Christmas morning. The Italian designer brand has taken the fashion world by storm in just 19 years—becoming a staple in womens’ closets worldwide. Founded by husband-and-wife duo Alessandro Gallo and Francesca Rinaldo, Golden Goose is known for its iconic, hand-crafted Venetian sneakers worn by mega celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, and Hillary Duff—along with millions of women around the world.

Another shoe staple that students adore are the sleek Dr. Marten shoes. Sophomore Emma Redican wishes for shoes from this classic brand, hoping to add a statement piece to her collection. From bold, ink-black platform boots, to low-top clogs, to strappy sandals, this stylish brand covers almost all categories of footwear. The classic Dr. Marten black with yellow stitching near the edge creates a look recognizable among fashionistas young and old.

Instead of fashion investments, several students wished for musical gifts and experiences. Some want tickets to concerts by popular artists like Hozier, Noah Kahan, or Zach Bryan, but most hoped for vinyls by their favorite artists.. Record players are back, and Charlotte Catholic teens still enjoy trips with friends to the local Charlotte record store Lunchbox Records. Senior Ryan Reid wishes for band boygenius’ The Record and indie artist Phoebe Bridgers’ Stranger in the Alps, while senior Leonardo Yon takes the retro route by asking for Radiohead’s In Rainbows and the Beatles’ Rubber Soul

With college decisions rolling in, Christmas is a perfect time for seniors to stock up on college necessities. Senior Lauren Prociou hopes to see the glint of a shiny iPad underneath the holiday wrapping paper this year so she can take notes with ease in a large lecture hall. On the other hand, seniors Kennedy Rogers and Soha Desai want digital cameras—another retro item back in style. High school and college students are obsessed with everything vintage, including pictures. Digital and film cameras allow teens to capture memories that last a lifetime—in a way that feels authentic.

Cougars prepare for the Christmas season giving and receiving gifts, but never forgetting Jesus is the reason for the season. Students stay mindful of God in this busy time, always making time to appreciate the gifts He gives to all of us each and every day.
