Charlotte Catholic students selected three representatives from each grade this month during Student Council elections. The school eliminated several officer roles from previous years to refocus the student body.
Administration reduced the council’s size to ensure each position is meaningful and representatives can better serve their classmates. They explained that in the previous structure some roles did not contribute.
Dean of Students Sarah Danser said, “We just felt like it was too much and not everybody was really doing a whole lot. By consolidating to three representatives per grade, everyone knows exactly who to go to.”
Representatives attend student council meetings, share grade perspectives, and advocate for their classmates. Student Council representatives must work hard for their grade. Mrs. Danser said, “We want people to truly advocate for the student body—not just put it on an application.”
To run for a representative position, each student must make a video that shares why they would be the right choice. Students from each grade vote anonymously for the officers they think should win. These steps guarantee that every student has a fair opportunity to share their ideas and be considered for the position.
These representatives are expected to set an example for their peers by participating in events, showing school spirit, and encouraging classmates to share their concerns.
In addition, being a leader of the school also means stepping forward and speaking on behalf of the students and what needs to be done. This means talking to the Administrators of the school when necessary. Mrs. Danser said, “Mr. Hoilett and I are here to advocate for the students as well.”
Freshman representatives for the 2025-2026 school year are Gavin Tessicini, Will Hoefling, and Jackson Deblitz. Sophomores include Jackson D’Ettore, Anna Miller, and Gianna Rinaldi. Juniors are Anna Kennelly, Charles Patrick, and Jake Robey, and Seniors are Kelly-Emmanuel Pierre, Danny Polking, and Julia Vesey. With these representatives in place, students can expect a great year ahead.
