Charlotte Community Mourns The Loss of Parker South

In the days following the tragic loss of Parker South, the Charlotte community has come together in a powerful show of unity and remembrance. Parker, an admired Myers Park student who was friends with many Charlotte Catholic students, is being honored through a series of thoughtful gestures led by a number of those students. These acts reflect not only grief, but also the respect and admiration felt for him.

Some Charlotte Catholic students have taken meaningful steps to celebrate Parker’s life and support those mourning his passing. One of the most visible tributes involved religion teachers distributing petals, which students signed with messages of love and remembrance, to their senior classes. These signed petals were then gathered and presented as a bouquet to Parker’s family, offering a tangible symbol of the community’s sympathy.

In addition to the bouquet, some Charlotte Catholic students made a poster for the Myers Park community. The poster served as a visual tribute, filled with messages and memories from students and neighbors alike. It now stands as a reminder of how far Parker’s influence reached.

The Charlotte Catholic men’s soccer team honored Parker during their home game against Northern Guilford. The student section wore green, and senior Randy Powell wrote Parker’s name and number on the back of a green shirt that he wore during warmups. Just before kickoff, the team observed a moment of silence followed by a special prayer.

Students described the process of signing the petals as a therapeutic way to channel their grief into something beautiful. The bouquet and poster have become focal points for mourning, reflection, and healing. Catholic also held a funeral mass at the students request to remember Parker.

Social media platforms have been flooded with tributes, photos, and stories celebrating Parker’s kindness, humor, and generosity. Candlelight vigils and informal gatherings have allowed friends and family to share memories and lean on one another during this difficult time.

Teachers have opened their classrooms for quiet reflection, and counselors became available to support those struggling with the loss.
