Charlotte Catholic High School recently announced a change to the students’ uniform policy. The policy introduces a new look for students and a stricter enforcement of the uniform policies.
Last year, the administration made accounts that the uniforms, specifically sweatshirts, looked sloppy. This year the school implemented a new policy banning sweatshirts from being worn at school except for Fridays. Administrators felt like the change improved the look around the school but thought they could do better. Next year, the school will take an even larger step in changing the uniform policy.
Mr. Telford plans to send out an announcement explaining the new school policy. The boys must wear their mass uniform with a black or navy blazer. The girls must wear a full-length skirt and mass uniform shirt. These policies are not just implemented on mass days; instead, these new uniform policies will be in place every day. It will come into effect at the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year.

Former Principal Ms. Phillips attempted to implement these policies during her time as principal, but nothing was established. Superintendent Dr. Monroe and Mr. Telford met a month ago to discuss the uniforms. They both agreed that the current uniforms looked “sloppy” and felt like they should be changed. They talked with other administrators and all agreed on the new uniform policy.
In addition to this, the Dean of Students will be stricter with the enforcement of the new uniform. They will check to make sure every student is in uniform, and the punishments will be more severe. If a student gets caught out of uniform twice they will be given detention. If it happens three times, they will be suspended for the day. The administration believes that the student should understand the importance of being in uniform and believe that stricter enforcement will lead to less infractions.
Many of the students are upset by the new policy and believe that it is too much for school. Students already have expressed frustration about the mass uniform, and it looks like the new policy will only increase that irritation.
While some are concerned about the new policy, others are in favor of it. The new uniforms will bring a significant change to the look around Charlotte Catholic.
