CCHS Goes Around the Globe

CCHS recently celebrated International Week, an annual tradition that highlights diversity among students. These festivities provided students with an opportunity to embrace their differences and learn about cultures from around the world.

To kick off the week, Spanish Honor Society members decorated the commons area and cafeteria with flags from many nations. The school also filled a wall with pictures of saints from various countries and prayers in different languages.

On the morning announcements, students from foreign language classes shared fun facts about that day’s specific continent.

Each morning of International Week, members of the Spanish National Honor Society welcomed students entering the school with authentic music and candy. They surrounded a trifold poster focusing on a different continent and its culture each day.

Throughout the school day, students could find the boards adorned with fun facts in the Fine Arts Center. Foreign language teachers took advantage of the display and showed it to their classes, utilizing the quizzes the Spanish National Honor Society made in conjunction with the posters.

Spanish students created Google Slides about countries and projected them on the TVs around the school. On Thursday afternoon, Spanish Honor Society members concluded their activities by gathering in the Fine Arts Center for treats from various continents.

The French National Honor Society members made posters about French-speaking countries and their cultures and traditions.

German Honor Society students found pictures and brief facts about famous people, art, music, food, and products of German speaking countries. They worked in groups and enjoyed exploring and relaying their knowledge to the rest of the school.

On Wednesday after school, Spanish, French, German, and Latin students and teachers gathered in the chapel to pray the Rosary. Those in attendance prayed in all four languages in celebration of the Church from different cultures and perspectives. The prayer service allowed students to connect and recognize their similarities while still celebrating their differences.
