Everyone needs romantic relationships in their life, and the formation of these relationships in adolescence is crucial to the growth of emotional intelligence. Charlotte Catholic is full of young love and a handful of the cutest couples in school were interviewed.
The first couple interviewed were seniors Vivi Ware and Jake Vap, who met in their AP Government class after being seated next to one another. They have been dating for a little over four months. Vivi says the real thing that got her to like him was “his passion for his interests,” including planes and WWII. Vivi also believes that communication is key, and to communicate “when something makes you feel happy OR sad.” Jake seconds this by claiming good communication is the foundation for a healthy relationship. Jake’s favorite date together is when they went ice skating because he is a hockey player. Vivi’s favorite date was when Jake planned a fancy dinner and got her flowers.
Any single guy looking to impress a girl should take notes and buy her flowers. The second couple interviewed were seniors Morgan Richards and CJ Turner, who met through mutual friends. Morgan and CJ just hit their six month anniversary and shared that communication is the foundation of any healthy relationship. Morgan believes that with the growing influence of online dating apps, there will be a lot of mixed feelings from those looking to find love. She states, “there are pros and cons to finding love online, it can help expand the search for someone, but it also makes it hard to find a real connection” her and CJ met through mutual friends online, but mainly fostered their relationship in person.
Lastly, Mr. Morgan was interviewed about his relationship with his wife. He gave numerous insights on how to foster a healthy relationship and why love is an important emotion for personal and social growth. Mr. Morgan just recently celebrated his ten year wedding anniversary with his wife. He met his wife through a mutual friend at a restaurant, and they instantly hit it off. Mr. Morgan believes that modern advancements, like dating apps, can make a big difference in finding one’s partner. He believes that it opens up a lot more opportunities to meet people, because not everyone will be as lucky as he was in meeting their future partner solely by chance.
Mr. Morgan believes that “there are multiple soulmates one can find in life, and they come in different forms and connections.” On the romantic side, one would like to believe that soulmates are there from the start, and the whole point of life is finding said soulmate. But, I believe that two people are not born soulmates, rather they become each other’s soulmate through quality time and shared growth.
Mr. Morgan was also asked his opinion about how many relationships one should have and how long they should last before you are ready for ‘the one’. He believes that if you really love someone and believe that they are truly the one for you, then it shouldn’t matter if you settle down with someone you met in highschool. Though, he does recognize the importance of gaining experience and understanding how relationships work before getting into a serious one. His advice for those that believe they found their partner early is to learn the experiences of a healthy relationship with your current partner, so that you can know they are the one for you for the rest of time.
These two couples, plus Mr. Morgan and his wife were deemed by I, Cate Kellgren, the most knowledgeable cupid of the 21st century, as the cutest couples at Charlotte Catholic High School.
