Charlotte Catholic held its annual homecoming dance on Saturday, October 11. This year’s Candy Land theme brought funny, candy-inspired decorations to the school gym.

The PTO and members of the student council helped organize and decorate the event.

Tickets were $30, and teachers checked students in at the entrance before they entered the gym. Once students left, they could not come back inside.

The dance ran from 8 to 10 p.m. and had a strong turnout, with an estimated 1,000 tickets sold. The gym featured some colorful lights towards the front, candy-themed backdrops, and a photo area where students could take pictures with friends.

The gym also contained a spinning 360-degree video area called “Take a Trip to Candyland,” which was one of the main attractions. Students and their friends could try on any of the provided accessories and pose for the video. Sophomore Rylan Linnert said, “The video I made with my friends was definitely my favorite part of the dance.”

Sophomore Mia Rozman, who goes to Providence High School, also attended the dance as an outside guest. She said, “Catholic’s dance was a lot more fun than ours, and the theme and setup made it feel really welcoming.”

The DJ played mostly pop music throughout the night as students filled the gym. However, most students did not stay for the full two hours. The majority left after about 30 minutes, heading to post-dance events. Sophomore Angelina Maino, explaining the reason for the early exit, said, “Most people just go for pictures and the experience.”

Most students thought Candy Land was more creative and memorable than last year’s “Under the Sea” theme. “The theme was a lot more fun this time, and people really seemed to like the video activity,” said Sophomore Samantha Saggio.

Though most students did not stay for the entire time, the decorations and setup made the dance worth attending. Its strong turnout and colorful theme made this year’s Candy Land homecoming a success.
