After two decades of service at Charlotte Catholic High School, Mr. Conrad has come full circle. He returned to Holy Trinity Catholic Middle School, not as a student this time, but as its new principal. A proud graduate of Holy Trinity’s first-ever class, Mr. Conrad’s homecoming marks a new chapter for the school and for a leader deeply rooted in its mission.

Mr. Conrad’s move from high school to middle school leadership brought an unexpected jolt of energy to the school. “If you commit to a fist bump during class change, you’re committing to 500,” he joked. The biggest adjustment has been understanding the different emotional and developmental challenges middle schoolers face. Still, he finds the same drive to succeed with middle school and high school students.

He prioritizes trust by being present and approachable. He visits teachers during planning periods to connect personally and professionally. Listening and showing people they are valued are key to building strong relationships. Mr. Conrad also believes in including teachers in planning to foster collaboration and shared ownership.

At Holy Trinity, grade-level teams of teachers ensure no student slips through the cracks. Administrators and teachers regularly check in on student well-being. Mr. Conrad also makes time to visit the cafeteria during lunch, engaging with students outside of class. These efforts help nurture a supportive and attentive school culture.

Mr. Conrad’s years at Charlotte Catholic as teacher and administrator have equipped him with valuable perspective. “Coming from a high school background has helped me answer questions that parents and students have about what comes next,” he said. More importantly, he learned the enduring value of relationships. He said, “Supporting teachers, who are the backbone of our success, has been one of the most important lessons I’ve carried with me.”

Inspired by middle schoolers’ openness to faith and connection, Mr. Conrad invited local pastors to campus to bridge school life with parish life. Students are encouraged to take part in building a Catholic identity and fostering a sense of belonging at the school. His goal is to create a joyful, faith-filled culture that draws others in.

In his welcome letter, Mr. Conrad reflected on the significance of returning to Holy Trinity: “It feels like coming home to a place that helped shape whom I am today.” His journey from theology teacher to dean of students to assistant principal to principal has been guided by faith and a commitment to forming compassionate learners and disciples.

As Holy Trinity embarks on a new school year, it does so with a leader who knows its past, understands its present, and is deeply invested in its future.
